The White House called the final document reached today by G20 members a “success” for his country and said it was “a great day for the United States” because it supports

many of President Donald Trump‘s goals.

A White House official who spoke with journalists following the U.S. delegation noted that “today is a great day for the United States,” and noted that “the G20 adopted a communiqué by consensus, and it is a consensus that is very supportive of the great goals of the United States.

He said the most important thing that was achieved was the changes in trade. “For the first time in history, the G20 recognizes that the World Trade Organization (WTO) is not achieving its goals and that reform is needed.

In addition, he pointed out that another of the “great achievements” was in the area of energy. “We believe that the best way to have energy security is to have several sources of energy. We want renewables, solar, all of them, but also clean coal and clean fossil energy. The G20 recognized that all types of energy plans have a role in energy security,” he said.

Since coming to power, Trump brought down several resolutions taken by his predecessor Barack Obama to protect the environment and promote renewable energy. The Republican eliminated regulations and sponsored the reactivation of coal mines and construction of oil pipelines and new boreholes.

The White House source said it was a U.S. success to include in the document “a paragraph specifically explaining our position on why we withdraw from the Paris Accord, which kills jobs.” Trump withdrew from the global pact that promotes gas reductions to combat climate change because he believes it harms U.S. industry.

Asked how the rest of the countries reacted to this issue, he said that “the position of the United States on the Paris Agreement was well known. So there was no dispute.” But he revealed that this issue was one of the last to be closed because “countries that previously agreed, now could not.”

“What we are beginning to see is that there is a small break in that coalition. Countries like Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Russia are now going to think twice.” When asked what the U.S. managed to leave out of the document, he mentioned the language on multilateralism. “Almost all the leaders who spoke during the trade session talked about a reform of the WTO,” he explained.
